of Milestones and This & That

Jannah

is currently being potty trained. Not by me though, Anik is doing most of the training. It's been about 2 weeks now and so far she's doing OK. There are mishaps of course, and we still do not dare to go diaper-less when we go out and at night. But at least it is a start. 

worries me sometime with her disengage-ness. There's no way to grab her attention when she does her moods. Should I worry?

had a cute word today : hoshcops for hopscotch :D

knows her ABCs for sure. On one of the iPhone games, there is one that asks the kids to point to a letter being said on the voice-overs. One round of the game, she gets it all right. And in the 2nd round she will purposely choose the wrong answers - all the time!

Aliah

is almost into Book 4 of her Iqra' and has completed Book 2b of the Peter n Jane series. In fact, she can read rather easily most of the easy-to-read storybooks lying around the house.

knows her addition n subtraction till the 20s. Easily. Starting with multiplications now. But I'm not encouraging it yet. (should I?)

loves going to school. Although there has been 1 or 2 incidents where she refuse to wake up. Haha.

also had a cute word today : elepan (pronounced sipi-sipi elephant) for 7-eleven. Haha!!

currently likes Luq.man. Before this it was Far.han n O.mar (brothers lagi!) and before that.. tah sape tah lagi la. But her best friend is still Irdina.Nur.Alia. 

All Cried Out

I thought I was done crying, but apparently I am not. It must be hormones (yes, what else is there to blame).

I guess I am not as OK as I thought. It has been (only?) a month. It would probably need more time. The healing process is still going on. Glad that I did have that good cry though.

Moody?

I've come to realise that lately (read : post-miscarriage), I am becoming more and more moody.

I lose my temper more easily.

I get riled up more easily.

I feel like shouting more often.

I get irritated a lot.

And the worse part is, the brunt of the anger is directed to the girls. Bad Mommy! Bad!

I need to take a step back, I need to stop and pause.

Or else I know I will regret it later.

At least I am aware that I'm in the wrong kan?

Ya Allah, guide me. Give me patience and give me strength. Make me a better Muslim.

Operation Verandah - Part 2

We bought the pool already, and it is a worthy investment. Cuma kena rajin put on the filter and bersihkan je la. (but Hubby is diligently doing that, so I'm not complaining!)

Love those tiles!! Love it love it love it! It was the only stock left at I.kea and we took all of it home (including the ones on display at the store!)

Eh, si kecik ni pon ada... Sibuk dia dengan my turn, my turn.

The kids enjoying themselves in the pool. Both Hubby and me loves to just berendam in there too. Quite relaxing really!

Wishlist 2010 - Revisited

Earlier of the year, I posted our wishlist here.

1. Renovate the house
2. Be credit card free
3. Get a DSLR
4. Go Europe

7. Buy a drum set
8. Get a Blackberry
9. Get pregnant? Haha!

Half year gone, let's see what has been achieved.

#1 - we did it, not according to what we imagined but somehow still loving it. If you look back at this post, this is what we did. And I still owe an update on the progress kan? Haiih.. The only thing left to do now is to repaint the house.. and even that we are thinking of doing it ourselves and slowly (Myra! you want to volunteer kah? :D)

#2 - insyaAllah, target is this year.

#3 - Hubby gave this to me as our anniversary gift. And I am loving it! *now thinking of buying new lenses.. oh tidak!

#4 - As it was, if the earlier planned came through we would be going this weekend. But, I guess it's not the time yet for us to be going.

#5 - this wish has been shelved, indefinitely. :D

#6 - we went. with kids. we were also supposed to go just us, but Hubby's work got in the way. we probably would go again - haha, but not any time soon. a re-visit 3-4 years down the road maybe. 

#7 - this wish has also been shelved, till we can figure out where the heck we can put it if we buy it. haha! since the renovation was not done as per our original plan, we don't have that extra room we were hoping for.

#8 - gave up on the BB idea. (obviously when Hubby has already given my birthday gift - 2 months early - a pretty awesome phone to boot!!)

#9 - tried it, didn't work out. haha! and right now I am just too traumatised to try again. we'll see la how. insyaAllah, ada rezeki ada la nanti. 

out of 9, we've achieved 4.. and half if you count #9. hehe. not bad eh? 

Mid Term

Aliah had her exams 2 weeks ago. Yesterday she happily, excitedly and proudly brought back her exam papers and report card from school.

Alhamdulillah, an almost perfect score again. 100% in 5 of 6 subjects. A 96% on the other. This time Mommy tak jadi kiasu. Haha! Not because I'm not but because I kinda know what she did wrong already.

The day she had her Islamic Studies paper, she came back and reviewed her answers with me. And she already knew that she answered one of the questions incorrectly. Only one, and again on a concept which to me is already flawed.

The question asked the students to colour things that were made by Allah. We have taught her that everything is created by Allah. Living things specifically and non-living things in a more complicated process. So when she is taught differently in school it can be a bit confusing la kan. Should I make a fuss? Hehe...

Whatever it is, Mommy is extremely proud of you Aliah!

Not so Little Anymore

She's 3~!

Woh. Major milestone.

But right now she is still recovering from a viral fever. Syian dia.

J seldom adhered to the proper milestone chart. She'd be miles ahead on the gross motor skill but then her conversational skills are really non-existent. Her memory is excellent, and she knows the lyrics to a WHOLE LOT of songs! In fact, she even knows the dialogue to most of her shows. Absorb macam sponge! But ask her a simple question like what her name was and all you'd get is a blank face or worse still total ignorance. I call it her "disengage mode". Anything that is mundane or uninteresting to her, she would disengage.

But, I'm not worried though. I know she knows her ABCs, and 123s and shapes (not colours though). But again, try to even ask her and again her disengage mode will be switched on. So yeah. A total contradiction to her Kakak.

We bought her a cake and a present and I was totally thinking that she would just ignore the whole birthday ho-ha. Boy was I wrong! As soon as she saw the cake she got sooo excited.

"Whose cake is this?"

"Me! Me! Me!" (sambil lompat-lompat kegembiraan)

Then she sat happily in front of the cake, waited for us to sing her birthday song and TRIED (yes, tried but had to be helped by her Papa to really blow it as she was getting irritated that she couldn't blow it) to blow her candle.

And when she saw the present, she was so ecstatic.

It is so easy to make them happy kan? Blessed. I feel blessed.

Dearest Sarah Nur Jannah,

Mommy, Papa & Kakak loves you so very much. We hope you grow up to be a good muslimah. Happy 3rd Birthday sayang!

OK.

Enough with the depressing stuff. Haha!

Read somewhere in babycenter.com that your child's height when they are all grown up can be measured if you know how tall they were when they were 2 years old. You just multiply that height (in cm) by 2.

Aliah was 80cm

and

Jannah was 85 87cm

So apparently Aliah will grow up to be 160cm tall and Jannah will be 170cm  174cm tall.

Both much much taller than me. Tsk. And Jannah will be even taller than her Papa!

Have to wait and see if this will come true though. :)
