When it rains..

(title tiada kena mengena dengan entry)

There are as usual lots to tell, and so little time to do so. I was away for a couple of days last week, travelling up north as per the requirements of my work. Decided to take the flight this time as I didn't think I could cope with driving all over the place. As it was, even that was too tiring for my liking. I didn't get enough sleep - not for the lack of trying I can assure you, I had seasickness which didn't help matters and I just simply missed Hubby and the kids. (me n Hubby adjusted our outstation route so that one of us could be home with the kids and as a result we didn't get to see each other for 2 whole weeks!)

Before I left, Aliah had her placement test for Sri.Ayesha. We thought we were there early, as it turns out there where a whole lot of other kiasu parents too. Haha! She did well though, Alhamdulillah getting good marks in all the areas of the test - Oral (BM, English, Arabic), Practical Life (Solat & Montessori) and a perfect score for her Written exam.

I realised I haven't given much updates on Little Baby. I guess it feels like everything is on a repeat mode. Except for the fact that I am hungrier this time, I have gained more weight too comparatively and non of my normal clothes fit me anymore. Haha! After all I am already halfway through this pregnancy. 19 weeks and counting. I started feeling his/her movements back in Week 17 and got a bit paranoid when I didn't feel movements. :P

I did check out the Parenthood Expo just for the sake of taking stock on what had changed in the last 4 years (of being pregnant that is) and realised that there is not much prep for me to do. Having said that, I still need to start getting all the baby stuff out and do an inventory. Oh, but so malas!

Ramadhan is fast approaching and I am apprehensive about whether I can last. I guess we will have to just take it a day at a time..

Kiasu-ism Proven

Aliah brought back her report card 2 days ago, and the first thing I did was to freak out!

Haha.. Sungguh la kiasu Mommy ini.

Bukannya nak be proud that she did get 3 100% and a 98%. Yang dapat 84% and 86% tu laaa yang aku bisingkan jugak. Haish...

In my defence, I know that she can get better results and was proven bila tengok her Science paper all her 8 mistakes were carelessness. Adoi laaa..

Kesian dia. She was expecting it though (kena marah that is). Before tido malam tu, she told me "I promise I'll do better next time Mommy" .. Terus Mommy yang rasa guilty pulak.

In return, Mommy pulak dah kena sound dengan the Papa for being too harsh on Aliah. Hehehe.. I know I need to chill it. She is just 6, and a screwed up Science paper does not make or break her. But still...

And thus, this has made me more determined to be a SAHM as soon as possible.

The End

Something happened last week that really bugged me. Or more to the point, pissed me off. Actually, I was extremely angry. With the maid that is. The story goes like this,

I came back from work and it was a really tiring day to be greeted by a really sad sulking Aliah.

It took some coaxing before she told me what her problem was. Or rather showed to me with actions. A rocket launching, hitting the earth (or our home to be exact) and boom everyone dies. Shocked was too mild of a word for me at that point.

"Where did you get that idea Kakak?"
Instead of answering my question, she asked one of her own.
"Mommy, how old will Little Baby be in the year 2013?"
"Little Baby will be 1 plus"
"But he will still be so small... " And she started to cry.
(note : Aliah wants the baby to be a boy, thus referring to it as "he" most of the time)
"Nanti siapa nak selamatkan baby?"

Apparently Anik was talking to her about doom's day earlier and speculated something about it happening in the year 2013.

Mommy terus naik hangin la kan, haperhal pulak ni pegi citer merapu dekat anak aku ni!

But my main concern at that point was to calm down an extremely distraught 6 year old.

So I told her, as simple as I could that Qiamat is something which we all as Muslims should believe in because it will happen. (she's learnt the Rukun Iman in school, so it was easier to relate that back to her) And I told her that only Allah knows when it will happen whether it would be in 2013 or some other year. What we can do is to pray and doa that we would all be kept safe and would be together in syurga. And that's why she needs to be a good Muslimah.

It took a while for her to calm down. Meanwhile, si Adik yang cheeky ni dah datang buat lawak nak try pujuk Kakak dia yang tengah nangis tu. Hehehe..

After she calmed down, she said to me,

"Mommy, cepat mandi. Jom kita solat."

Subhanallah.. my daughter is amazing. :)

[Hubby talked to Anik about it - as I was really still not in the right mind frame to be talking to her; honestly I would have been really angry still and said something I would regret. In her defence, Anik said she was talking about the tsunami alert which she heard from her relatives in Jakarta. Itu pun satu hal jugak, panik tak bertempat la .. the alert was in NZ for goodness sake! Anyway, Hubby told her not to talk about stuff like that with the girls]

This has actually made me have another one of my wishful SAHM moments again. I want to be there for the kids IQ & EQ development.. I need to be there.. InsyaAllah one fine day soon..

School Antics

J has been in school for a week plus now. And Alhamdulillah she is adapting well..

Waking her up in the morning is a routine Mommy has to be involved so that she does not throw a tantrum. Her first words would be, "I don't wanna wake up". But if asked if she wants to go to school she would reply with the affirmative. So, lepas kena ulit 2-3 minit, she would be up with a tentative smile.

I am hoping that with school, she would start eating better and would be less dependent on susu. For now, no difference yet. Even her teachers have commented that she does not want to eat. So much so that she has set a catch phrase that even the teachers have adopted. Apparently, day 1 in school she went to the kitchen during break. When asked to eat, she replied "No thanks, not my taste". Cikgu semua dah drop jaw dengan jawapan dia. Haha! Memang bertuah la anak yang sorang tu.

So far, her answers to 'what did you do in school today?' will vary between colouring, doing puzzle, learning ABCs and 123s. Most of the time it would be colouring though, macam2 benda lah dia colour. Circle lah, stars lah, elephant lah..

Sleep times are getting better too, although Jannah has always been known to fight off going to sleep until she really really can't open her eyes.

I can see that she loves going to school and I am hoping that she is getting all the benefits of schooling at the tender age of 4 anddd that she does not get bored of school. InsyaAllah.

Jannah is 4!

I keep telling myself this.. but I still can't believe it...

My baby is a big girl. Walaupon dia masih lagi manja mengada cengeng kadang-kadang tu, but overall she has grown and matured so much!

I have to admit, I have not been diligent with her as I was with Aliah on her "academic" stuff. She doesn't write or read yet. *bad mommy*

Inspite of that, she is an extremely intelligent girl who picks up things just by watching.. which I have to say impresses me all the time. She is also very intuitive about others and their feelings and moods. She has been known to stop me from getting all riled up with her Papa simply by saying "Mommy, stop being angry" or "Mommy, use your inside voice.. not outside voice" :P kena balik kat Mommy dia ni.. haha!

Jannah is the joker of the family with her weird sense of humor which never fails to make us laugh. In fact, she would do her earnest to make us laugh if we are angry and won't stop until she sees a smile from us. Now days, I can hear their (J & A) laughter almost always. There will be something that the 2 of them would be up to.

Her eating habits are erratic. There will be days when she can eat and eat and eat.. And followed by days of only susu and an occasional biscuit.

She also has a temper that can match mine. And one of her not so nice trait is to throw things when she is angry. But she is also quick to calm down and will immediately apologize when she knows she did something wrong. (like throwing said things)

Now that she has started school, I can imagine her being more "panjang akal" .. In a way, I can't wait to see what she has in store for us. :)

Happy 4th Birthday Sarah Nur Jannah, Mommy hopes you grow up to be a good Muslimah and a good daugher and sister. Do know that Mommy, Papa, Kakak Aliah and Little Baby loves you very much!

(picture is from her party last Sunday; dress she picked out herself for the special occasion. she actually insisted we go to the shopping mall to pick up a princess dress for the party)
