• haaa... amek ko dah kena soft reminder dgn org miri. kamek mintak ampun, bukannya sik mauk update.. nya sik ada masa, polah kerja. hikhik amacam? still can lepas or not kamek klaka?
• I started the post from Hubby's new toy (new la kan less than 6 months old - haha!).. but got sidetracked by a lot of things, thus terbengkalai again.
• I don't have time to daydream now, my mind is forever on the go and thinking. If not because of work (which by the way I have a new project to handle.. *sigh* penat lah!), then it's hyperventilating about Aliah who is going to start school next week OR hyperventilating about Aliah's party.
• Yup, her 5th birthday is coming up and I am having a logistics nightmare! Tahun ni tukar venue, buat dekat poolside at TokWan's place. Serabut! Serabut!
• I need to go and see the surgeon about the growth (yes, it is back) but I am procrastinating. How la?
• Why is it that year end = everyone takde mood nak kerja?

Teribble Twos

So it seems.

Alhamdulillah, Jannah does not seem to be afflicted by it. Syukur sangat. I guess because she knows Mommy will not be able to tolerate it clear headedly. Heheh..

At 2 yrs and 5 months now already, she can be so mature one moment and all baby-ish the next. And is forever melting my heart. All she has to do is smile. *sigh* I finally figured out why I love it so much, because her smile is so much like her Papa's smile. AND she even has the whole taring teeth to match.

Anyways, though sometimes we still can't understand her.. she seldom gets annoyed by it, but will determinedly try to make us understand what she wants. Most of the time now, she can tell us what she wants. Either by words or if that fails, by pulling us to whatever it is she wants.

She dotes on her Kakak. And Alhamdulillah Kakak is the kind that does not mind being doted upon. Whatever Kakak does, she'll imitate and they can play together most of the time now. Hide-n-seek, play catch, read books. I came back one day seeing them both combing and dressing their Dora dolls.

And she's finally figured out, when Mommy uses her stern voice and calls her by her full name then she's in trouble. Haha!

Amazing Aliah

For the past week me and Hubby could not carpool due to the fact that he has to leave early to pick Yon up and send him to the hospital and me leaving later after I've cooked the crab soup and made the papaya drink etc etc.

Anyway, yesterday the girls were both getting ready to go to bed but were still fooling around and playing with their Papa. Since Mommy is the disciplinarian of the house, I sort of remarked that it was getting late and they better get some sleep.

I left the room then and was later told by Hubby that Aliah made some intuitive remark.

Apparently, she said to her Papa that Mommy was upset because "Papa tak bawak Mommy pegi keje.. I know, tomorrow you can drive her to work ok Papa? "

Where did that come from?

I've never said anything like that in front of her nor did I indicate to her that I was not happy with the arrangement. Hubby knows however I am not happy with that arrangement. We're so used to carpool-ing and I really cherish it as that is the only time we get to talk about the day, our life and everything else in general without being interrupted every 2 seconds. In fact, I was talking about it to him earlier that day.

But how the hey would Aliah have come up with that theory?? Amazing I tell you kids now days. And how old is she again?

Denggi

Weird title eh?

Well, ignorance is bliss.. but when there is a sudden need, you'd want to know what helps.

Mak gave us a fright last week when we got an early morning call from Aunty Nor. Apparently, they had to put her on the wheelchair and push her out when she came back from her Tawau trip. She was that weak. Temperature was high ~38-39 ish. And she was vomiting like there was no tomorrow.

We brought her first to the clinic (you know la, everyone pun tak nak pegi hospital - gi klinik pon cukup la is the normal answer). Itu pun we left quite late as Mak wasn't strong enough to move. [thinking back - we should have called for an ambulance, but I doubt Mak would have agreed to it either] But the doctor there referred us directly to Co.lum.bi.a A.sia Hospital. So there we went and straight to the ER as Mak was having some difficulty in breathing.

The doctor came, and obviously Mak had to be admitted much to her objection. Mind you, by this time it was almost 4pm. The blood test result showed that she was positive for dengue. Which explains the nausea, vomiting, high fever and even the chest pain which actually was what we would call sakit ulu hati.

Thus came the question - how can we help her get better faster. Goggling and asking around, I found a few petua which was even vouched by the doctor at the hospital.

The easiest would be to drink 100plus. Lots of it. But remember to open the cap for an hour or two to get all the gas out. Or better yet shake the gas out.

The not so easy one is to drink air daun betik. You need 2 helai. Daun ye bukan pucuk. Don't use the stem, just the leaves. You need to pound the leaves sampai hancur lumat. And then squeeze the juice out. If you have kain muslin, use it. But I didn't and just made do with a sieve. All that effort will get you at most 2 tablespoons worth of juice. Penat OK nak perah! My hand has been smelling of daun betik for the past week and has yet to fully return to its original colour (it is now still greenish). Mix it with about half a cup of drinking water and a bit of air gula. Drink once a day. I didn't taste it but Mak said it was sedap. Haha!

This one by far is the toughest for me. For one, I have NEVER cooked crab before. NEVER. Nak pilih ketam pon terkial. Haha. But yeah, you have to do what you have to do la kan. So anyway, you need some garlic, shallots, ginger and peppercorn. Tumis. And then you add in the crab - 2 ekor ye and masak and balik kan sampai the shell jadi merah. Once that is done, you add about 3-4 cups of water and 1 stalk of lemongrass. All this is to be done on low heat ye kenkawan. Tutup and leave it until it boils for about 10-15 minutes. Finally add in the lime juice and some salt to taste. The original recipe I found it from said to put in coriander leaves and Chinese leak, but I didn't find it so I forgo that part. This one I tasted, and memang sedap! Haha.

Apart from that, fruits are good too. Dragon fruit, watermelon.

Alhamdulillah, even though Mak is still in the hospital.. she is improving and doing much better now.

Bersawang lagi..

It's been a while again, and I am sounding like a broken record!

And I am feeling extra guilty because I have not updated the girls' milestones for a while now. Let's start with the easy stuff..

Aliah is now 105cm and 15kgs. She's eating a lot now, and has gained back her chubby cheeks! At that height, she is 2/3 my height already and pretty soon I believe she is going to be taller than me. She's feeling extra happy lately because she knows she will be going to school soon. We've enrolled her at Sri A.ye.sha kindy and I hope that would be a good decision.

Jannah is now 93cm and weighs 12kgs. At 2 yrs and almost 5 months that is quite tall! In fact when compared with Kakak's height, Kakak only reached that height when she was 3 y.o. This little girl is really adorable. She chatters not stop, she sings and sometimes she likes to play by herself. And she just can't stop moving. She'll be jumping, running, tumbling. I tell you, having her is enough to cure me from wanting a boy! Now days, we can understand her half the time. The other half we have no idea what the hey is she talking about.

Aliah is a chatterbox too. And she still loves telling jokes. And has started to enjoy the good ol card and boardgames. We've introduced her to Snap! and Mo.no.po.ly. She is currently hoping to get 2 things for her next birthday, a bike and a computer(!).

Jannah is pretty good at making us melt. When reprimanded, she'll immediately take your hand to kiss and salam complete with the Muuaaah sound and if you're really lucky, you'll get an I love you too.

Oh.. have I ever told you how I love their dimples? *sigh*

Talk to the Hand

So, I bought some new clothes for Aliah.

And she was wearing one of it the other day.

It looked really nice on her.

She's tall, and the baju made her look taller and more mature and prettier.

So I told her so. Repeatedly.



Up till the nth time, she suddenly said




"Stop Mommy, I know. You said that already"

Complete with eyes rolling and talk to the hand pose.

I'm being dissed by my 4 y.o. Sabar je lah!

Back-date Post : Jalan - Jalan Melaka

This is a belated post. A very belated post. I hope I can remember the details. Hehe.


We went for a 3d2n getaway with the kids n brought Anik along with us too. Utilising the free nights from 0rient Rewards, we stayed at the E.ver.ly Hotel situated along the Tg Kling road. We left a bit late on Saturday, as there were earlier commitments we needed to attend to. But as it was a holiday, so we didn't see the point of rushing.

After checking-in, we lazed around a bit before deciding to go out for dinner. Not really in the mood for any ikan bakar, we went into town in hopes of finding a Nyo.nya restaurant. We found a few, but there were no parking in the vicinity. Finding a parking spot in town during the weekends is quite a challenge. In the end, we went to Dataran Pahlawan and had.. NLA! Haha. It was my first experience of having NLA outside from the Kg Bharu outlet, and I have to say it does not live up to the standards. I'd much rather go to Kg Bharu itself or even have nasi lemak Mak.Wanjor.

Next morning, we wanted to swim but it was raining. Plus, Aliah wanted some toys she could use whilst main pasir. So, we decided to go back into town and head to the mall to look for the toys. Dah alang-alang ada in town, we went to a couple of the tourist-y sites. Went up The Eye. And went to the ship. Wanted to take the boat ride, but the queue was too long. Basically, out of all the things to do there, those were the only tourist-y thing we did. For one, we didn't feel the kids would enjoy all the other stuff and also Melaka during the weekends is just so damn packed with people!


Head back to the hotel, but first we stop by the roadside to buy some really mouth-watering coconut shake. Bess gile! Dah la depan hotel je the stall.

As soon as we reached the room, both kids bugged us to go down and swim. I told them to rest first, and we'll go down when it's not so hot. I really don't know where they get all their energy. Mommy and Papa dah nak pensan kepenatan and they still can run and jump around. Jannah still has some reservations about being in the pool, but Aliah just loves it! I think next year we can think about sending her for proper swimming lessons.

All along, Hubby wanted to stop at this Chinese Muslim restaurant but each time we either missed the junction or the kids were asleep or something or other. And that day, we missed the timing. Lunch was until 3pm only, and we arrived 5 after 3. So kecewa again. To make up for that, we decided to go for dinner. Walaupon tau that both girls might be cranky and tired. But redahkan jua, nak makan punya pasal. And true enough, the food was delicious! Murah pulak tu. So, if you are in the area please go and visit. Confirm tak menyesal. We had a little chat with the owners. 2 ladies who's been friends for years, one of them is Malay and the other is Chinese Muslim. Apparently they told us, they've just been open for 15 days.


Monday morning, both girls had lots of fun at the beach. It's the first time for both of them to actually main kat pantai. J got cranky when we dragged her away from there. It was almost 11 and the day was really hot! Dah la I forgot to bring sunscreen for anak-anak orang putih dua orang tuh.


We went back up to pack, and left the hotel promptly at 1230. But our holiday was not yet over. Next stop : A Fam0sa Res0rt. Yeayy~! Heaven tau pegi situ on a Monday. T.a.k.d.e. o.r.a.n.g! I guess it is also because they close the Water Park on Mondays, so the crowd is down by half. Anyway, we arrived just in time for the start of the shows. Cowboy show, Animal Show, Bird Show & Elephant Show. Aliah enjoyed herself tremendously. Jannah, seperti biasa.. tutup telinga. Haiih... She only enjoyed the elephants. By then, both girls were tired. Masuk kereta, salin baju, minum susu and tidooo.

Verdict : Excellent trip, great bonding time with the girls.

Jalan - Jalan Shopping

Haa.. amek ko title. Haha. But that is the truth. We went for 2 days, and all we did was shop!

Oh, and it felt a little bit like the amazing race too.

We left on Friday, flight was supposed to be at 2030 hrs. Knowing how Fridays are, I knew I had to leave early. Wanted to take the day off, but I had meetings the whole day which I can't escape from. *sigh* So, the 2nd meeting finished at 5ish and terus gelabah2 balik. But too late, the roads were already packed by then. Habis segala jalan aku cilok nih. Luckily too I was the one driving, if not kesian la Hubby ku kena marah tak pasal2. Hahaha!

Anyway, we arrived home at 10 to 7. And we need to be at the airport in 30 minutes. Papa terus jadik F1 driver nak hantar kitorang. Hehe.. In a way, nasib baik jugak rushing.. takde la rasa sedih sangat to leave the girls behind. And nasib baik jugak I already did the web check-in much earlier. Kitorang sampai ngam2 45 minutes before ETD.

Pastu, flight delayed sejam. Ceh. Buat penat je gelabah. Haha!

Ahli rombongan ke Paris van Java

We arrived in Ban.dung at 2230hrs local time. (Ban.dung time is -1hr from M'sia) The hotel concierge was waiting for us at the airport, so it was not that much of a hassle. Luggage pun keluar awal, Alhamdulillah. Our supir took us directly to Per.da.na Wi.sa.ta hotel. The hotel was quite nice. You know it's been there for years, but yet it didn't look so rundown.

Even though local time is -1hr from our time, daylight n dusk is exactly like M'sia - even earlier I think. So the next morning when we woke up at 6am local time, it was already so terang. And I was so counting to qada' my beauty sleep. *sigh*

We spent that whole day S.H.O.P.P.I.N.G.

First stop was at Pa.sar Ba.ru, then we went to Jalan Riau / Dago. After that it was straight to Ru.mah Mo.de. And finally dinner in Ci.ham.pe.las. And somewhere along the way, we stopped at Rab.ba.ni. I love this shop, walaupun sekarang dah jadi client tetap an-nisaa'. Bought quite a few tudungs there. While we were there, it was time for Maghrib prayers. They made an announcement that business will cease operation for the next 10 minutes and everyone was invited to solat jemaah together. Cool kan?

The next day we went back to Pa.sar Ba.ru as there were some things that we forgot to buy. Pa.sar Ba.ru and the hotel was just 10 minutes walk away. After that we just relaxed at the hotel a bit before checking out.

Then our amazing race started again. We timed it perfectly, i.e. to leave 3 hours before ETD. However, Hubby bought one of those ready-in-a-day suit, and we were waiting for it to be delivered to the hotel. And we waited. And waited. Waited. For almost 1 hour! Finally we got word that the suit was still in Pa.sar Ba.ru, so we told our supir to drive us there. Lucky for us we got a really good supir, he brought us to all the back roads and parked behind the market. Me n Hubby then ran up and had to wait again as the suit was still being delivered to the market. Grrrr... Memang tahap sabar tinggi betul haritu. Haha!

Lucky for us too that we had the web check-in done, so we arrived at the airport with still ample time.

Tiring. But exceptionally happy. Retail therapy is always good for the soul. ;-)

Today Hubby celebrates his 31st birthday.

The first thing he said to me this morning..

*sigh* I can't tick on the 29-30 age group anymore.

Anyway, as I had to leave early this morning.. Hubby was in the kitchen with his two little angel helpers making eggs and sausages.

How not to sayang him like that?

Yang, here's wishing we would be able to spend many many more birthdays to come. Thank you for being the pillar of strength in our life. I love you forever and always.

p/s : Birthday present dah dapat awal kan.. Nanti kita pegi dinner at Kampachi ye, my treat.

I have just realised, yet again that I have not put up the post about Jannah's birth. Tsk.

And, I really don't know what to write about anymore. What? What? Work is same as usual. Life is same as usual.

Ah, I am however.. working on a new health plan. Nothing to extreme just yet, but I hope to begin running again. Before we can even manage that, we have to start with morning exercises. So, that is what I have been doing the past week or so. Berjaya jugak la kan. Hopefully, I can continue. It's all in the mind. Therein lies the problem. Haha.

*title is J's latest favorite phrase. I normally say that to her when she whines, now she says it herself after whining. Haha!

Birthdays

Mama celebrated her birthday yesterday.

I hope and pray that we will get to celebrate more birthdays to come, as I want my girls to grow up knowing and loving their TokMi.

I have to admit, I had a love-hate relationship with Mama when I was younger. Was always at opposite ends with her. Always having difference of opinion (haha.. full fledge gaduh was more like it) But now that I too have my daughters, I have come to realise that all that she said and told me to do was for my own good. And honestly, I wished I had done all she told me to do without sulking. I wished I had paid attention when she told me help her in the kitchen.

At least I am lucky enough to realise all this when I can still make amends. Kan?

Anyway, Mama's birthday celeb was made more joyous with the birth of Muhammad Ibrahim bin Khairul Anuar. Yup, I have another nephew! Even the odds a bit now (4 boys n 5 girls). Ibrahim shares his birthday with his TokMi. How cool is that?

Post Raya

Seminggu dah cuti.. come Monday confirm sangat malas nak pegi keje. *sigh*

Anyway, our Raya in Kuantan was fun. Different, but still fun nevertheless. It took Jannah 2 days to get used to her surrounding. And by the time she was A-OK, we were leaving for KL already. Tsk. Mak Long dah hint that we have to stay a week next time around. Err..

It was a good change for me, we gave Anik some time off which means we were on our own for the couple of days we were in Kuantan. Lucky for me, I have a husband who does not mind giving a helping hand in looking after the kids. (He even fed the kids while I took a nap on one of the days!)

Balik from Kuantan, drove straight back to Mama's place. Mana boleh tinggal sambal sotong, rendang paru n sambal kacang Mama kan. Nothing beats that. And even after 32yrs nih, I still have not mastered those specialty dishes yet. *note to self : sila belajar!!*

Our jalan-jalan Raya started on the 4th Raya, as Abang and Schey beraya with their in-laws. And of course amat penat nak cover belas-belas rumah itu. What to do, begitulah sedara ramai. But I wouldn't trade any of it. Ever. Sungguh bahagia ramai sedara nih.

Earlier today, Mama did her Open House. Dan saya tumpang separuh kaki pasal tahun ni amat malas nak buat open house sendiri. Yang datang pun mostly sedara jugak, tapi itu pun 2 ekor kamben tumbang. Huhuh.. Memang betul la The Ibrahims sangat sinonim dengan makan kambing.

Anyway, penat tahap dewata kelapan. I'll leave you with our gambar raya tahun ni.

Pre-Raya

Am currently blogging from Vis.ta.na Hotel in Kuantan. Yes, even though we balik kampung this year we still have to book a room as the kampung house is already bursting at the seams from accommodating assortments of uncles and cousins and nephews. Plus, I have a feeling J would be very "upset" with having so many people around her.

We started our Raya hols yesterday. And since tak beraya in Bangi this year, we slept over at Mama's for the last iftaar and sahur with them for this Ramadhan. And then, we went for some last minute shopping. Haha. Actually, with the help from our trusted car service guy.. we found out that the Ria could in fact be ready before Raya. Goes to show how you always need to know someone from the inside to get things done. So, that was what we were doing. Waiting for the Ria to be ready. Alang2 tunggu tu yang pegi OU kejap tu. Ahaks!

So yeah, the Ria looks like new. Or more like the old self. Cantek balik dah. And terus Hubby decide we will in fact balik kampung with it. Eventhough it lacks tinting. But that could easily be overcame by travelling at night.

Anyway, Hubby has been bugging me the whole week about what time we should leave (got me irritated too!). But I guess, it worked out in the end. We left from Mama's around 630pm with the plan to not stop for iftaar. (Dah siap2 bawak bekal Subway nih, and Mama tapau-kan rendang paru yang oh sangat yummy!) And it was a good plan. Because while everyone else were berebut iftaar at all the rest stops, we pushed ourselves forward. Arrived in Kuantan at 10pm. Good eh? Heard that traffic was bad a few hours later. Alhamdulillah, Allah permudahkan our journey. And the kids slept the whole way through. That was a bit of a problem coz when we arrived both were up and bouncy. Jannah didn't want to sleep until I have no idea what time. I woke up at 3ish, tersedar because she was falling off the bed. Tried to grab her ankles, only managed to soften her fall. Tapi bertuah la budak ni, she just continued sleeping. Haha.

We're leaving for rumah Tok Long (as Aliah puts it) soon. Hoping Jannah doesn't get into one of her don't-like-crowds tantrums.

Round the Corner

Huh.. tapi makin nak hujung Ramadhan, makin malas pulak jadinya. Tsk.

Bad news on the Ria. It won't be ready for Raya. Maknanya we have to make do with the Spectra. I don't like it because I have to sit at the back. But yeah, ada la hikmah dia tu kereta tersadai walaupon dah sebulan lebih. Marah sebenarnya dengan the workshop guy.. *sesungguhnya aku berpuasa*.

Couple of days back, invited the whole family for iftaar. Hubby (as usual) wanted to try out authentic chicken rice. Licin kesemuanya.. so I guess it was a success. :)

The office will be closed for a week. Nice. Have started planning on all the visits we'll be doing during that time.

Hmm.. I have to declare, this is quite a boring post. Haha!

Semalam, ukur jalan di Ikea-Curve-Ikano. Hehe.. Was looking for baju raya for my nephews n nieces. (Yes, they all do get something from me every year). Aliah's lucky dip was really lucky. We got an 0gawa induction cooker (Hubby's dream come true). Alhamdulillah.. Rezki tak disangka. :)

Aliah has started playing with bunga api this week. Papa dia bersungguh cari kat Param. (Ye, pegi param bukan cari makanan ye!) How little joys can give you so much happiness. Jannah, hmm.. excited tgk pelita. Tapi tak kan dekat dengan bunga api. Syok sendiri dari jauh je. Haha. But the cuteness of it when she goes "Phee-eewww" (sambil tutup hidung) over the smell of turpentine.

End of Week 1

Sekejap je kan?

Nanti belum pape dah raya dah. Baju pon tak pegi letak bling2 lagi nih. Haha!

I don't like the traffic. Haihh.. penat ok nak balik rumah pon 2 setengah jam. If I don't leave at 430 on the dot, bersiap la nak puasa di atas jalan raya. Tuh pon nasib baik bole balik 430. Kalau tak, hmmm...

Weekends have been at Mak's or Mama's.

Baru sekali, eh 2 kali iftaar di luar - yesterday, at One World to celebrate Aunty Timah's birthday and once at Pavillion pasal tak larat nak tempuh jem. Sebab pikir, kalau sempat sampai pon tak dan masak. Maka berbuka lah di food court.

Begitulah routine.

Eh. Lupa, Sabtu iftaar at Ina's crib in PH. Hubby sangat gembira kitorang tak perlu jadi host tahun nih. Walaupon rasanya kalau jadik host pon dia redho jek. Haha.

First Fight

No, not with Hubby. Yang tu dah berpuluh2 dah. :)

This was with my eldest daughter.

Scenario : after Iftaar, in living room.

She put on her pirate eye patch, but it was a bit loop-sided so I decided to put it proper. Suddenly she got so angry and got this assumption that I didn't let her wear her eye patch. I got angry back at her and said I was only trying to help her.

She stormed off.

Her Papa tried to intervene, but I guess both of us were being too hard-headed about it.

She started crying on her Papa's lap, telling him I didn't let her put on her eye patch and all that.

About 10 minutes later, I tried to diffuse the situation and tried talking to her. Away from her Papa and her sister. She was still angry. AND refused to accept my apology! Boleh?? Wah.. Mommy dia pon ego balik lah kan. FINE! You can sleep on your own tonight.

Terus dia ajak Papa dia naik atas nak tido.

Tak sampai 5 minit, dah turun balik. And she stood in front of me, waiting for me to acknowledge her. I didn't want to bring up the fight, so I asked whether she wanted to play our favourite sushi game. Immediately she cheered up and sat beside me.

This page has been open for a few hours and this is all I've managed.

Totally crap la Nana. *sigh*

I guess it started with me not feeling well.. and not feeling well.. and not feeling well.. lasted for about 2 weeks I tell ya. Up till the eve of Ramadhan. Alhamdulillah I'm feeling much better now, at least boleh la nak puasa.

We had iftaar at Mak's on Saturday, and at Mama's yesterday. Hari ni baru nak iftaar di rumah sendiri. And semalam telah rajin masak siap2 untuk this week. At least some of it lah, so senang nak plan.. at least dah ada 1-2 lauk standby in case of days yang rushing nak balik rumah.

I haven't even wrote about turning 32. Hmm.. nantilah yang tu.. kalau rajin.

Oh, I have to post this up. Sangat adorable! J has this defense mechanism, apa jua dia tak suka she'll sumbat her fingers in her ears. Be it a TV show, or a song or some loud noise. Apparently, she doesn't like the Kia too. Masuk kereta je terus sumbat telinga. Hahaha!

2 days reprive

I've been sick the past couple of days. Got MC from the doc yesterday, and took an additional day today as I don't want to pass on my germs to others, what more with the H1N1 alert going on. (People are just not taking it seriously enough, have to admit even I didn't)

Anyway, as I was home I got to spend some time with the girls. And it was insightful.

Jannah is not lagging behind intellectually as I secretly feared. She just doesn't like to show off. I got to sit down and read with her today and she totally impressed me with her vocab and knowledge of things. But of course, all that lasted only for like 5 minutes. Attention span - ZERO! Heh.. She's much too energetic to sit down and read books. Always on the move, always in the path of destruction. Heh.. Well, not exactly.. but close. Anddd she suprised us all just now with her version of Bismillah Aman Ahim.. Amin Cute giler!

Aliah, I noticed has a change of demeanor if she's on medication. She gets really mean and angry. (Just like me.. sigh) And we would just be on each other's nerves all the time. So yeah, one of those things. Anyway, we played this bingo-like board game she got for her birthday and she won - twice. Yeah, it's all luck but you still need a good eye to see what's going on and I didn't help her at all. So, quite impressive really.

Sigh.. they are all growing up too quickly..

The Bangkok Experience - Part 2

Day 2

This would be one of those long days. Since we'll be going from one place to another via the sky train (BTS), we opted for the one day pass which cost THB120 (approx. RM13). Proved to be an asset - it was the weekend, a lot of tourists, not enough ticket kiosks (which uses coins only). Our first stop for the day was the Chatuchak Weekend Market. We could see the market from the train and it was HUGE!! I got a headache just by looking at it.


Maka bermulalah sessi berjalan dan berjalan untuk hari itu. By midday, my feet were killing me! Tapi gigih jugak ni, redah la segala kedai. I went there without any expectations, so didn't get too dissappointed when I didn't find the things I expected to find there. Bangkok is very similar to KL - the buildings, the rush, the traffic, the public transport.

We left the market, hopped back on the train, headed for the town center. Went looking for the Jim Thomson House - gila ah, main aci redah je.. nasib baik jumpa. Hubby was skeptical already. "Are you sure this is the right road?" Pasal jalan tu macam jalan kampung yang tak logik akan ada sebuah interesting place di hujungnya. But there it was, and it was really cantek. Cuma dah capek sangat nak follow the museum tour, so we just lepak for a bit and went to the shop je.


Lepas tu nak carik HRC pun satu hal jugak. Jalan dan jalan lagik. Jumpa. Penat. Makan. Grab a couple of HRC souvenirs.

We decided to head back to the hotel to rest a bit before our theater show later.

And the show was absolutely AWESOME! Worth every baht we paid for. Tickets were priced at THB800 (approx RM82) per person, but we got a promo of buy 1, free 1. And we got a free gift to boot.


They had 8 sets of shows, mostly with puppets but in between there was a Joget song with belly dancers, a silat song was used for a dance of a scene during a Sabung Ayam contest. They even had a meet the guests show during the set. The hour long show terasa sangat sekejap!

Day 3


The plan was to lepak at this beautiful garden till it was our spa time. (note: one of those rooms was our room) Tapi pasal tak puas hati, ajak En. Hubby pegi Chatuchak again. Boleh? Gigih nih.. Haha. Udahnya, we arrived late for our spa session and they had to move our slot. Nasib baik tak kena bayar denda, and nasib baik puas hati dapat beli barang lagi kat JJ tuh. Hehehe..

Lepas spa yg sangat bess, kemas barang and check out.

All in all, it was a great trip. Seperti biasa, we much prefer to just wing it when it comes to holidays. Read up a bit before, figure out the best places to go, read reviews and then make up a rough plan. And so far it has worked.


...going on this trip has made me miss Bali even more...

The Bangkok Experience - Part 1

It was a short getaway. We were a bit concerned about going, the H1N1 and political issues being our main concerns. In the end we decided to just wing it, and Alhamdulillah everything went well.

Day 1

I did the web check-in as I didn't want to be stuck with all the early morning travelers, so we arrived ngam-ngam an hour before our departure. Dropped off the luggage at the drop-off counter, and we were ready to go.

Aliah was OK with it, as I had pep talked her earlier about where we were going and when we'll come back. I wasn't worried to much about her as her cousins were around. Jannah was being a bit moody, not too sure whether it was the early morning or the crowds that caused it. I was concern too for her, as she had a slight fever the previous night. But I know she is in good hands with Anik, and Mama is around to help her too.

We arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport after a 2 hour flight. Immigration was smooth and easy, luggage was out early, our airport transfer guy was waiting outside and we headed straight for the hotel.

Because we arrived early, we could not check in to our room yet. So we decided to go for a short walk to the duty free mall next door. Hoo-hum, nothing much to see. Hehe.. But we did find the Aksra Theatre on the 3rd floor and promptly bought tickets for Saturday night show.

Head back to the hotel, got our room keys and checked out the room. It was lovely! We got the garden view room and this is what we saw when we looked out the window. Check out the pool! Of course we couldn't resist from dipping in. Syiok!


After maghrib, we left for the Suan Lum Night Baazar. Our hotel is close by to the BTS station, and even so they had a complimentary tuk tuk service for their guests to the train station. Kerana lapar, we stopped at Nana station (ye, ada station sempena nama saya!), headed for Sukhumvit Soi 3 and went looking for some Muslim food there. This is the best place for halal food, Pak Arab memang merata-rata kat situ.


As the Asok-Sukhumvit interchange was just at the next station, we decided to walk. Next, we took the subway to Lumphini station, the stop for the night baazar. It was quite spacious, and sold everything from clothes to trinkets to food to household items. And it was a case of see one seen it all. No complains though as we were there to enjoy the sights and atmosphere.

Notice above pic has an elephant in it? Selamba je gajah tu lalu tengah jalan, we figured out later it was an attraction and you pay the trainer to feed and take pictures with the elephant. Seterusnya, gambar us fooling around at the hotel. Lawa seh hotel tu.. mmg worth every penny we paid for it.

I have a feeling Jannah knows something is up, she didn't want to sleep without Mommy last night and even then had a hard time falling asleep. On top of that, she has a fever pulak tuh. *sigh* Hopefully she'll be OK. This will be her first time away from us sejak dia dah start understand things.

In the end, I have a feeling we're just gonna wing it.

It is after all a holiday.

Little Princess

Scene 1

It's been a long time since Aliah had her Princess duvet and bedspread on her bed. So yesterday, when we put it on she was extremely excited and happy.

"Yayy.. now I can be a Princess"

"And Papa can be my knight in shining armour" (seriously, who the heck taught her that??!)

"And Mommy.. erm.. Mommy.. Mommy jadik bat lah"

What?!

(just because I was wearing the baju kelawar masa tuh.. boleh?)



Scene 2

"Mommy nak jadi siapa?"

"Mommy nak jadi Dibo!"

"Tak boleh la.. Papa gemuk, Papa la kena jadik Dibo."

Muahahhahahaha...

3 Only

Was lazing around in front of the TV with the kids last night. I was holding onto Jannah's Dora doll (beb, baik ko rasa bangga.. that is one of the 3 presents she likes best) pretending that it was a baby.

Aliah upon seeing me do that, noted

"Mommy, is that your baby?"

"No, I only have 2 babies.. Who are my babies?"

She proceeded to raise her hand and point to her adik.

"Do you think I should have another baby? Would you like one?"

"Hmm.. ok.. but just one."

"So, I can only have 3 babies?"

"Yes, 3 only."

Ladies and gentleman, my eldest daughter has decreed that she will only have 2 siblings. :)

Jannah's Birthday Bash

Date : 28 June 2009

The event was a week ago, and I haven't even said anything about it. Shessh.. Teruk betul.

I have to say though, this by far is the most unprepared birthday-bash-do I have ever planned. Everything was last minute. From setting the date, to inviting the guests, to preparing the party favours. Even deciding the birthday girl's attire was a last minute thing. *sigh*

Please please please grant my wish to becoming a SAHM soon!

Anyway, the party itself was a success. Menu for the day was Hubby's signature bolognaise, my apple salad, the usual finger food. This time around I wanted to do something extra so we had baked mac n cheese too. And Kak Eita suprised us with some kuah durian which everyone bedal with the roti. The yummeh cake and cuppies as usual from MamaChak. We even forgot to take out the bubble maker but that was because the kids were having fun even without it.

The birthday girl, as you can see in the picture was her usual self. Anti-social. She even decided that she wanted to have her afternoon nap during her party (something she never does on any normal given day!). Luckily Kakak is a social butterfly like her Mommy! Haha. So Kakak took over the roll of accepting the presents and thanking everyone and giving out the party favours. :)

It really took a toll on me this time. Added that with all the work stuff that was piling the previous week plus I had to stay up until 4am to finish up the party favours (but it was very satisfying to be able to do it all myself). The day after the party I had to stay in bed. Low BP, headache, world spinning - you name it. It was all there. Am getting old eh?

She turns 2

She turns 2 today!! Wohooo..

And such a different individual she has become. Very unlike her Kakak; yin vs yang.

And now she is entering the terrible twos stage, I have fears! Haha. No lah, it's all part and parcel of being a Mommy. I guess with Jannah, the only problem is I don't spend as much time with as I would like. The downside of having a very reliable maid.. Plus, she's not like Kakak who wants to be cuddled and read to. She much prefers you to just sit by her, watching TV with her. And boy.. can she REALLY watch TV. Lately ni je baru nampak dia interested to do other things like colouring (she's not a lefty btw) and reading, kalau tak ngadap TV je lah keje.

So, according to BabyCenter.com...

• Pull toys behind her - yup!

• Carry a large toy while walking - oh yes!

• Stand on the tips of her toes - this one confirm bole, her favourite pasttime is to get a small bucket, open the sink tap, fill it with water and proceed to splash all over with said bucket

• Kick a ball - kick, throw, roll

• Climb onto and off furniture - but of course, another favourite pasttime.

• Walk up and down stairs, holding onto the railing, or your hand, for support - yup

• Scribble spontaneously - on the walls mostly, much to Mommy's dismay. But when asked who did it she'll immediately respond with a Shoorryy!

• Turn containers over to empty out the contents - yup

• Build a tower of four or more blocks - yup

• Jumps - most definitely

Her speech development is different somehow, all her words she picks up from PHDC and sometimes it can be difficult trying to understand what she is talking about especially when we don't spend as much time watching her shows to understand which line from what show she's saying.

And she doesn't like to do the point to your body parts even though she knows it. And she doesn't like to tell you the ABCs even though she knows it. And she doesn't ever acknowledge her own name when you call her even though she knows it. *sigh* (Mate, is this what you were saying about Cancerians?)

Ah well.. as long as she is healthy and happy it makes me happy too.

Happy Birthday Sarah Nur Jannah! Mommy hopes you grow up to be a good Muslimah. Mommy, Papa and Kakak Aliah loves you very very much.

Yesterday Papa celebrated his 69th birthday. Alhamdulillah, he is still with us at this age. Alhamdulillah, he is still healthy and alert despite the 2007 cancer scare. Alhamdulillah, I have been blessed with a father I can talk to and manja with. And I have to remind myself again and again not to take it forgranted. Ever. Ngeh.. tapi susah nya nak carik birthday present untuk Papa.
