Picnic Part II

I had a great time on Saturday.

Unfortunately, the batteries went dead and the new camera is not here yet. Tehee..

So I've only got 3 shots of the picnic in Putrajaya.

A Wake Up Call

I got a deserving jolt the other day.

A couple of days back, we came back early to a quiet house. But we could here the kids upstairs taking a bath. It was accompanied by a harsh tone from Anik, so harsh that it gave me the chills. From what I could here, she was reprimanding not only Aliah but Jannah too for not keeping still and being naughty and such. I was appalled to say the least. Quickly went up, to make sure the kids were not being spanked or something like that. Syukur, they both looked OK and were as normal as can be. Suffice to say, Anik's tone turned normal the minute she saw me.

Much later, I asked Aliah matter of factly whether everything was OK, whether Anik ever scolded her or things like that. Aliah's answer was vague, which meant that the earlier incident was probably nothing because Aliah has not learnt how to lie - yet - and I hope she would never do.

Ever since then, any single out of turn the kids did I got paranoid. Thinking it could be them trying to get our attention. Hell, I've been so paranoid I actually stayed home the last couple of days.

Hubby was saying it probably was nothing, you know how it is with 2 kids and knowing Jannah yang memang tak reti nak duduk diam. She was probably just having one of her moments. I hope it was, but at the same time I am not taking anything forgranted anymore.

*sigh* At times like this, I really wish I was a SAHM!

Aliah's Quirks

I realise I've not talked about Aliah's milestones and achievements lately. Heck, I've not talked much about Aliah - period. I feel bad. Haha!

Well, anyway.. she's gonna be 3 and half years old soon. And she's tall. (almost reaching the 1m mark already) And she sometimes doesn't know whether she still wants to act like a baby or be a big kakak. But if I ever call her my baby she'd tell me, "Aliah not a baby Mommy, Aliah Kakak". *sigh* my baby girl has grown up.

Let's see.. to date her AaBaTa is perfect. She knows all the huruf individually. She can count and recognize up till 19. But her ABCs still lacking, though I am not too worried about that. I think once she goes to school it will be a matter of time before she knows it.

Talking about which, she wants to go to school. Something which I am not too keen of yet. Nanti jadi like me, I went to school at the age of 4. By the time masuk Darjah 1, I was bored to death pasal not learning anything new. So maybe we'll send her to playschool. But I want to find one that doesn't stress on homework and such. I want her to play. And interact. And get to know people. Most kindy stress so much on repetition of work at one go and all that which I think is so not the right way to teach kids. So yeah, till now I have yet to find one which fits my needs. Not that I have been looking seriously either la.

Anyway, this is her counting up : twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fiveteen... yes, she says fiveteen not fifteen. And then its sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, one hundred! No kidding. Despite telling her berpuluh kali that after nineteen is twenty she still insist it is one hundred.

She is the epitome of a kakak, she knows what is dangerous for Baby J. Jannah being the ever adventurous girl will always be trying to climb here and panjat there. So, Aliah forever will be on alert. Especially when Jannah climbs the slide. Immediately Aliah will go over and make sure Jannah doesn't fall. Or if she's preoccupied she will jerit for Anik / Mommy / Papa and make sure someone comes to Jannah's rescue. The other day, Jannah fell and bumped her head on the dollhouse. Upon knowing about it, Aliah immediately when over to the dollhouse and kicked it a couple of times. Haha!

With her, you can't use the normal reprimand tactics. You can only talk to her, itu pon not immediately when she has done something wrong. And not in front of others either. If not, bersedialah to see teary eyes. But the thing is, she knows immediately when she has done something wrong so normally we don't have to be angry with her coz' she will apologise immediately.

She loves to tell stories. She'll start with.. "Once upon a time... " and then she'll proceed with whatever story she wants, be it a Princess story or a Toy Story story or even anyone of the PHD character stories. What's really cute is that every line of her story will begin with "But one day..." and then the next line "But one day..." and it goes on and on like that.

Oh, her English command is superb! The other day, she told me "Mommy, I am really upset with you". I think that was because I was purposely trying to rile her up. And recently she said "Mommy, why are you crossing me?" That was for when she said something else and I purposely interpret it as something else. Oh sungguh proper English dia. Even I don't use words like that.

I am really proud of her. And I am confident that she can be and will be the role model to her sibling(s). So yeah, I think that covers about all her latest updates.

Happy Birthday Papa!

I am blessed that my father still is healthy in spite of the C scare late last year.

I am blessed that Papa and Mama still have a strong relationship which I can model.

I am blessed that he can still give thoughtful advise on life and such.

I am blessed that he is still around to layan my manja-ness.

I am blessed that I get to watch him happily surrounded by his cucus - all 8 of them.

And I hope I will still be blessed for many more years to come.

A Comprehensive Ramble-ing

Gosh.. it has been a while hasn't it.

As always, I have been blogging in my head but can never seem to find the time to actually put it down. This time I blame it on the lack of Net at home. We have been streamyxless for the past month or so. And it still is out right now. Hubby dah malas, so we are just going to terminate it and go for Max.is broadband. (Tapi kena pinjam Ijin punya dulu nak test connection. Hehe) Anyway, as I was saying.. I have been blogging in my head and normally it is right before I go to sleep. I could usually finish 1 whole post a night. See how many posts I would have gotten already if not for the lack of Net. *sigh*

** sidetrack sket ** I just had a revelation today. I just found out how voice command works on my handphone. Can you believe it? I've had the phone for 2 whole years now and I just realised it today. Suddenly I feel so old. Haha.

The whole month after coming back from the whole meeting. workshop. trip. -in that order- life is still chaotic. And I still wish I could stay home. But somehow, with the hike in petrol and general cost of living it looks like our dream of a single income is becoming fader and fader. But we're still hoping and looking for ways. InsyaAllah. When there's a will there's always a way right? Talking bout which, there are rumours of another hike soon? True ka?

Having said that (i.e. month being chaotic) I have to say that we (Hubby and me) have manage to go out for our weekly dates without interruption. It helps that Anik is very very reliable and trustworthy. So we have managed to watch Iron.man, Nar.nia, Indy at the movies which is way cool because I liked all three movies. I just love the comforts of watching movies at the Signature. Sangat tenteram ok. Yes, I know it is a bit more pricey. But I like to watch a movie without having a kid kick the back of my seat, a teenage boy giving a run through of the movie to his friends apart from the usual phone answering and kids running around the cinema.

Nih sape laaa penat sangat sampai tido kat tangga ni? Heheh...

Oh. Does anyone knows what happened to Gen.ki Su.shi? They seem to have closed all their shops. And have deprived me of a place for my Japanese quick fix crave.

Tsk. I just re-read this post. And I have to say, my English is sorely lacking lah. Struktur ayat all gone. Haha. Gila crap. Oh well, serves you right Nana for not writing often.

Jannah : 1 month short to being a year old!

Weight : 8.5kgs
Height : 72cm

She had a growth spurt last month. Mana tak nya, she was 67cm.. and now she's already 72cm. 5cm tu naik. And now she looks so tall already. In fact she's almost as tall as Dida, her 2 yr old cousin. Tapi ye la, Dida tu mmg kemetot so tak bole nak kata la jugak kan.

She's got her 2 bottom teeth and 1 half gigi atas depan now. But I think she's teething again coz she forever wants to bite my fingers. She specifically loves to do this while going to sleep. Bebudak lain hisap jari la, minum susu la.. Jannah gigit jari Mommy. Bole? Tsk..

Most important achievement for her this month is walking. My baby girl is already a walker. She started walking about 2 weeks ago. And has now even mastered walking very fast. I just love to play catch with her. Gila best dengar her shrieks of laughter.

Anyway.. her milestones to date :

• Plays patty-cake and peek-a-boo : oh, she loves peek-a-boo. she would normally take the duvet and put it over her head and on cue when we say "peek-a-boo" she'll pull the duvet down. Her patty cake is more like a high five. Hehe..

• Stands alone for a couple of seconds : checked a few months back already

• Cruises : also checked a few months back

• Understands "no" and simple instructions : she understands but whether she will follow or not is a totally different matter all together. Haha!

• Puts objects into a container : yes, and put ball in hoop. and put things back on the table. she also knows how to "play" with cars / trains / lorries.

• Stoops from standing position : check, she can squat too now. oh, she also loves to tonggeng herself.

• Indicates wants with gestures : yup! normally with non stop jabbering too. until we give her what she wants.

• Says "mama" and "dada" to the correct parent : this is one thing she hasn't said yet. hmm.. i wonder why? she can say "nak", "dah", "jom", "nyum-nyum". I think this one is my fault. I have not spent enough time with her to talk and point at stuff. Need to start doing this.

I just love taking pictures of her sleeping. Heh..
